Health experts have over the years found that the immune system of animals is very high as compared to that of people. This has been proved by the fact that there are some diseases which if they attack animals are milder as compared to when they affect humans leading to devastating effects. It has not been established what really causes this to be so and what it is at the moment is just studies and not conclusive. This however does not mean that animals cannot entirely get sick and someone who would assume this is wrong their cases are even worse given their high immune system meaning that when it gets sick it is nearer to death. It is important to take note of an animals’ health and this can be done through close observation will tell an owner if it is sick or not.
A specialized individual who looks at animal health is referred to as a veterinary doctor or officer. It is a branch of medicine and the only difference comes in because they do not deal with humans directly. Many people, according to veterinary physicians do not know what causes their animals to get sick and sometimes call for help when they are already helpless meaning their lives cannot be saved. They have therefore outlined a number of signs that a person should watch out for to notice if an animal is sick. Most pet animals when sick will start drooling and produce bad breathe. A playful animal will suddenly look dull when it is sick or about to be sick and owners should take notice of this. Loss of weight in animals should be because of fitness and normalcy but when it happens drastically an owner should be concerned. Coughing, running nose, watery eyes and bleeding are some of the red lights that an animal is sick.
Just like human skin gets dry and pale, dryness in animal skin could suggest that it is sick.
Another sign of sickness could be a decrease in production for farm animals in products like milk, eggs, wool among others. Drinking and passing of urine and frequent bowel movements are also signs that should not be ignored. Veterinary doctors suggest that prevention is better than cure in any animal case. The following have been suggested as some of the way that will prevent animals from getting sick. One of the surest way to prevent animal illnesses is hygiene which should be highly looked at. Some animals are very sensitive and therefore areas that they are kept in should always be in good conditions. A lot of animals suffer diseases and infections just because their bodies are not healthy enough to fight the diseases that come their way and therefore animals need proper diets. Animals like dogs especially are programmed to be psyched up and therefore should be engaged in exercise despite their age.
